The bracing is held in place with 1/4" square head lag screws as we have here. These washers are also 1/8" thick, 1" x1". All fastener are bare metal. I want them to get rusty.

Once all the bents are all in place, the diagonal bracing, decking, and hand rails will be added.

After the decking is in place the pylons will be made and installed. These will be wood, instead of concrete like the rest of the railway. Then the 2" x 6" track supports, ties and rail will be slammed down. That will be a happy day :D . Time to play, I can't wait to run the 3/4" scale Britannia I bought a while ago. Too much fun!!!

I can't quite tell from the photos — You've notched the uprights like tenons and laid 2x4s into the notches, right? They are not mortised into a single crossbeam.

Hello My Friends
Here are the washers for the 5/16" hardware. They were drilled, nipped off, and de burred.

Square nuts are used. I thought about using bridge washers but the smallest size I could find was 3/8". They were also a bit pricey. So I went with home made square washers.

5/16" L series steel was used for the threaded rods. L series was used because it's much easier to thread than hot or cold rolled.

Hello my friends
Thank you John, soon it will be time to run tiny locomotives. Too much fun! Here is a snappy showing all the bents in place on their footings. This is basically the last gap in the railway.

Today the wood pylons were made. They were made from 4" x 4" Doug fir. First they were cut to length with the chop saw. Then a pattern was used to mark up the remaining cuts. The band saw was used for this.

Here is a drilling fixture that was cobbled together. This will be clamped to the drill press table.

Tomorrow the pylons will be treated with preservative stain. Then the decking will be started. It has mostly been stained and will be cut to length and fitted to the bents. Then the pylons will be set in place. Gettin' close.

Hello My Friends
The last operation on the pylon pieces was to drill and countersink for the screws that hold the whole mess down to the trestle deck. The same fixture that was used to drill for the tie bolts was modified, and then used hold each pylon half for drilling. Three inch long screws will be used here.

Here the pylon halves have been treated with preservative stain.

Now outside to the trestle. The bents are all in place and it's time to start slamming down the decking. The decking is 2" x 6" Doug fir.
It has been given the preservative stain treatment and can now be cut to length, drilled, countersunk, and screwed down to the bents. Here is the first piece of decking going down.
Trestle62.jpeg

Here one course of 2' x 6" has been run. I wanted to get these down so as to have a look at the curve. This is also descending at 1-1/2 percent. The lowest part of the railway is just beyond the end of the trestle

Here is a look in the opposite direction. Tomorrow in the cool of the morning more decking will be put down.

Once the decking is all down, the pylons, and track can start. Handrails will also be made.

Delightful to see your progress!
I like the detail that the square washers are corners-up to shed water,
Your attention to such detail is always impressive.

Hello My Friends
Thanks Russ. The washers were clocked just for appearance, I hadn't thought about shedding water but that will help. Today more decking.
