Elesco pump drawings

Somehow I feel like I need to join this conversation. There is no doubt that any pump built in this scale are major projects that take many hours of work but there have been some pumps that run flawlessly for years without problems which are a tribute to their builders. I started building my locomotive in the late 80's and committed to building the most accurate model of this engine that I could. One of the most prominate features was the Elesco feed water system and I started making plans early in building this pump. Drawings were started several years ago and they are close to completion and I also have close to 150 close up photos taken by myself and others. The real pump was a one piece casting so I will fabricate the pump by machining four sections out of silicon bronze and then by pinning and silver soldering, a one piece pump body will be ready for final machining. By using proper machining techniques, accurate alignment, good fits and finishes and good materials, a good running pump should be the result.

Yes the Elesco feedwater system is functional, the feed pump has to work. The Westinghouse compressor looks lonely by itself.

wow, that's stunning! How did you deal with the oil separator on the E side plumbing, where the drain/vent lines comes down from the elesco?

Did you make the water delivery line cleanout fitting?
