Archaic Live Steamers?
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Thank you hoppercar.
I'm with you on confusing abbreviations without explanation. Not thoughtful.

Several years ago I was a moderator on a forum for refining precious metals. Users were forbidden to use abbreviations. On that board, because hazardous chemicals are in common use and the readers tend to be common folks with little to no chemical background, posting something vague could easily lead to serious injury, even death, for the unknowing.

It's a kindness for all readers if posts are clearly stated and to the point. Keep in mind, one's thoughts may be clear as a bell to oneself, but the other guy often has no clue about your thoughts. If it's worth posting, it must be worth at least a little effort so others can gain a clear understanding of the intended message.

To be clear, there is no mandate that one must post accordingly. It's just the polite thing to do.

Just sayin'

Thanks for your cogent thoughts, Harold.
And I will continue asking when I don't understand something.

Twenty years ago my wife and I went to the Adirondack Live Steamers. Our host drove us around showing us the various parts of the facility.
In many places there were signs that said ALS. After we finished the tour my wife asked 'Who's Al?'.

Hi folks,

After thinking about this project for quite a while, last month I decided to make some progress on it. I used the drawings posted earlier in this thread to model the CF-1 in 3D (using Autodesk Inventor) at 1.5" scale, which I have since 3D printed in plastic to check the fit on my locomotive - just a quick, low res print for now. Still a long way to go to make this functional, but a small step in the right direction. For now, at least I have something to fill the empty void.

Sincerely,
Adam

Pretty neat print copy. If nothing more, it's proof of action and progress rather than inaction and deep sighs of "what if?"

Hey Adam could you print one with better resolution to get a smooth print? I would like to buy one from you so I could build one for myself. Thanks for making one for a better visual comparison.
