I WISH my shop was that neat.

Currently in the process of moving just about EVERYTHING in the shop to rationalize the storage and the machine layout.

Thank you for the response Bill on the prints. What alloy bronze do you recommend
for the steam cylinders and the pump body.

Thank you.

i use brass of whatever i have laying around for 90% of it. Since there is no metal to metal contact, it really is not a concern.

what the brits call gunmetal is good for the steam end..or any bronze you can lay your hands on.

the pump i am currently using is all just straight brass...

Here's a video of the 3/4" pump I made from Bill's drawings. Steam and water cylinders are made from brass. The pistons and slide valves are made from phosphor bronze. Piston rods and valve rods are stainless steel. The pump is putting water into the boiler at 100 psi. All seals and piston rings are Viton. Thanks Bill for making the drawings available, these pumps are so cool!!

I wanted to be able to watch the valve spindles and actuating arms! You also get to see the valve chest. Why hide the fun stuff??

The only drawback to this 'arrangement' is that it is sometimes difficult to 'adjust' the valve arm actuators since the screws are up against the boiler.

However, once set (which can be done on air before installation)...they very rarely need to be moved.

Looks very nice

Yes, the drawings are available. I believe the link is somewhere in this thread. Perhaps Bill could repost it here.

Yes, if an actuating arm loosens, or, needs adjustment, this arrangement can make it a challenge to get to the set screw. This actually has already happened to me one time. I was able to get my allen wrench behind the pump and re-tighten the screw. Not really a problem. Thanks again Bill!

I missed the link but found it when I went back through. Thanks!
