Minimum radius 2.5” scale
I’ve heard the D&RGW K27 likes to off road. What minimum radius 7.5” track would be reasonable for a Mudhen?

Re: Minimum radius 2.5” scale
The real ones were built to take a 19 degree mainline curve, which is about 300' radius.
I would guess a 2.5" scale Mudhen would go around a 60' radius.

Thanks Marty, I was hoping you’d answer given your knowledge of full size K27 and 2.5” scale engines.

The Sagebrush Short Line Rail Road has 55' radius curves on their mainline and the Harry Haas K28 is a regular visitor.

You're welcome! By some strange coincidence my home railroad has a minimum radius of 60'.Mountaineer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 3:59 pm Thanks Marty, I was hoping you’d answer given your knowledge of full size K27 and 2.5” scale engines.

Re: Minimum radius 2.5” scale
We have a Ulin K27 here and it really doesn't like anything under 60ft. We have one curve here thats closer to 55ft and the mike has caused some trouble there. The problem with a locomotive like that is it likely wont derail in the curve, but it will spread the gauge badly.
