Triang 10 1/4” gauge backyard miniature railway. Includes professional grade power supply on a roll around cart, and three original crates of track. This was offered in the UK in the early 1960’s, and was considered very posh at the time.

Not to steal your thunder here but I am pretty sure there is one more set of those here in the USA as I saw one for sale at a tag sale at the Trolley museum in Windsor, CT last year. It came with a lot of track too which at first was intriguing but once I realized the goofball gauge and also the light weight sheet metal rail construction I quickly realized that it was better left as a complete set as like you I realized it's a pretty neat toy for what it is.

Saw it in a Facebook ad for the upcoming museum swap meet. I emailed them and said I wanted it. They gave me a price. I accepted. It was actually really easy!

once I realized the goofball gauge

10¼" is a Standard gauge, set by Henry Greenly in about 1920. The next Greenly standard gauge above 7¼-7½" was 9¼" which has been largely ignored in favor of 10¼". 10¼" gauge is commonly found in passenger-hauling estate railways in England.
