Roller Chain help needed

Post by Mike Walsh »

I've been asked by a friend to machine up some brackets for a mechanism that he is restoring.

A caveat of this request is finding new roller chain for the brackets to attach to.

I have not been able to source this particular chain. The closest chain that I can find is #415 chain, which is still a little beefy. It might work, I need to order a set and see how it works. Meanwhile, I'm hoping the fellas on this group can help me learn a little more about the original chain that was used.

It seems to be a cross between #10/#20 and #40 chain. It has the width/height of 10 or 20 chain, but it has the pitch of #40 chain. Everyone keeps telling me that this is a bicycle chain, but no joy.

Could use any help folks can provide!

Thanks,
Mike

it's a moped chain.
search for 1/2" pitch and you'll find it.

I went to a scooter shop and checked out #415 chain and it seemed awfully heavy duty.

I wonder if I was looking at #415H chain. I will see if I can't find #415 plain jane chain.

Thanks,
Mike
