Hello new to the group. And new owner of 5890. Not the best of machines I know but I was helping the window of a friend of mine.

Re: New to Group, New Machine
Welcome to the group.
Everyone has to start somewhere. I started with an Atlas / Craftsman - a lathe that Practical Machinist actually bans mentioning.
There are people here who can do better work on your machine than I could do with a Monarch 10EE and a Deckel mill.
There's a separate 3-in-one forum here, so if you have questions specific to the machine, that's your best bet for those questions.

Re: New to Group, New Machine
Do you by chance mean a Central Machinery 5980 (rather than 5890?)
Not the machine to have if you have to hit 0.0001" tolerances building nuclear missiles out of titanium, but useful for small projects by the average homeowner who is willing and able to work within it's limitations.
