Maybe I'm remembering something that never was, but aren't there photos somewhere of a donkey crossing a river fully suspended from a cable? I did a quick search and nothing showed up.

Hi folks,

just finished the steam donkey a few days ago. Here's a short update, as well as video footage of first steam run, testing all functions. The only issues are with the steam whistle, everything else is working fine. Now I can start to train myself as donkey puncher ;-)

Is it legal to have that much fun?

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm well known to the neighborhood as the crazy train guy and for the old tractor. So I thing nothing will make them wonder.

In tough times, enjoing a hobby like this might be the best and only therapy.

Next year, I'll built some more rigging equipment and other parts to use the donkey in all kinds of typical operations. I look forward to gain first experience in crotchline-loading and really like to setup a heel boom loading scene just for the fun of it. Either its legal or not, fun and joy should not be limited.

The donkey rides well on top of the flatcar and it's a huge load.

Hi folks,

originally, I discarded the idea of adding a roof to my donkey. Reason has been the access for operation. But while looking on the donkey in the my shop, I was missing the "size in third dimension" of the model. So I cut some more timbers on my table saw and added a roof. THIS is what realy mkaes my model complete. The roof is removebale and hold in place by some steel rods only. To have a clear look to the preassure-gauge, on roof board is hinged.

The last photo shows my collection of scale Skookum Logging Blocks. The housings are 3D-printed in stainless steel and were not cheap, but worth any penny to round-up a scale donkey engine project.

I look forward to make an "in-depth" video of the whole engine soon, as well as a video of the donkey in operation. But weather isn't fine by now, so it may take some more time.

Anyway, I added some more build-progress-reviews with details to my blog at waldbahner.de if you're interested.
