In a nutshell -> even when you know exactly what you are doing from the get go -> you cannot build one as cheap as you can purchase one.
Even if you pay freight from Los Angeles to where you live...you will be $$ ahead to purchase an existing machine.
Have you ever seen the size (forget the accuracy) of the machinery required to build even a standard Bridgeport mill?
