Art on wheels!
I've always told people I make sculptures since I retired, and your train sure qualifies!!
Pièce de résistance.
Thanks for sharing your very creative journey.

Yep! I’m sure the folks riding in the first passenger car appreciated the aroma coming in their windows.

Brian...appreciate you describing a somewhat typical arrangement for mixed train service consists. And thanks for the compliment!
Russ...as always, many thanks for your support from afar! Was glad to share the experience. Hope my efforts inspire others to do something...or better!
Jim...you're most welcome. The (3) cars went together "a little" faster than your loco project. But you'll get there. Can't go any faster than piece by piece...with an occasional back step for a do-over (don't want many of those).
Steggy...have plenty of rear view mirror air fresheners and odor eaters in the stock to create a more pleasant out-going aroma for the downwind passengers with their windows open! Now, if you believe that...
Once again, thanks for your support guys. Have another project I'm currently working on. You might see a build article when I get those cars to the rail head. Carl B.

Re: One Last Shorty
Hi Guys...thought I'd provide an update on the shorties.
Local train club had a Friday night run last week. It had been some 15-20 years since I last attended one of these events. Figured this would be as good a time as any to "test" the car lighting. So...as the sun went down in the West and our boat sank slowly in the East (thank you Spike Jones) tried to capture some evening photos. Wasn't until after 8:30pm that it was dark enough in the Chi town area to get any sense how the cars would look in the dark...unless I stopped on some of the more shaded sections of the track.
Stopped in Sklenar Pass...
Still in Sklenar Pass...
Next time around the RR...stopped the train on the Carlson Creek trestle...
Think the spacers installed between the lighting brackets and the roof on the observation car "pushed" the lights too far down to shed any light on the clerestory windows. Will have to investigate on the July 4th run. Easy enough to remove the spacers...and wait for another night run.
Anyway, the event wasn't well attended which meant there was more time to stop the train to compose some train/shorty photos. Keeping the camera as steady as possible with the ambient lighting as a challenge. Enjoy! Carl B.

Jim 'n Russ...
Thanks guys. And yes, someday hope to drag the shorties out West for some club visits. With a most definite stop in Jamestown, CA. But 1st, need to get a transport trailer. Then, practice sitting for so long to get to the Left Coast! Carl B.
