Identify loco part 2

Post by steamblower »

Referencing the attached pic…
Thanks to all for reply’s and help

I am puzzled by an additional steam line (yellow box in pic) and do not know what it’s there for.
The loco runs well on air via the ‘typical’ inlets to the valve box. And there are small 1/8” lines inserted adjacent to the steam inlets presumably for lubrication. (One has broken off and is repairable).
Any ideas what these extra lines are for? Thanks

It appears that the line identified in the yellow box is the intended steam inlet.
It appears that the line identified as for lubrication likely was to a mechanical or displacement lubricator.
And what you have labelled "...the ‘typical’ inlets to the valve box..." is probably for a plug to be removed for adding lubrication at the begining and end of a run.
My 2 cents.

Andy
