That's why I suggested the Tiny Power piece, I inquired a couple years back, and $60 seems to stick in my mind (whether that was the cylinder set or just the block, I don't remember.).
BUT compared to $950 for the entire engine (castings & drawings only) it is SOME savings

Check out this website where Wilifred "carves out a cylinder from a chunk of cast iron for his "Two Times Engine."

Well, Al DID bought a shaper, a South Bend 7 incher so you (TEL) and I have gotta quit poking fun at him. Personally, I think he just bought it so we couldn;t stick it in his face every time he mentioned that you and I were on diets! Ah well, Al welcome to the exclusive "Shaper Lovers Society".

Richard, I can't remember what issues were involved, but the VW articles mentioned were in Live Steam about 6 years ago.

Al
I considered making it from a billet, since I must have 1/2 a ton of cast iron bar stock laying around. Most of it 3" diameter from about 6 to 9" long. Actualy welding up a cylinder might be easier. I will have to give that some thought.

Also I couldn't get the link to work. I will try it again later.

Is there a good site to get a real good idea for making poppet valves?
