Looking for 5/8" high aluminum rail

Post by Frank6276 »

Hello, the Pennsylvania Live Steamers, Inc. is looking for a supplier of 5/8" high aluminum rail. Since 1946 our railroad has a number of different rail sizes on the ground, some is Buddy-L that dates back to the late 1930's. We are working on some 4 3/4" gauge siding and would like to match existing 5/8" high aluminum track.
Thank you,
Frank, PLS

just a thought - contact some of the other tracks that have 1" on the ground. They might have a source or a die.

FWIW:

I have about 10' of aluminum rail in my basement that the club is welcome to.

Not much but 10' better than nothing.

I have set an email to John k @ friendsmodels. At one time I seem to remember that he had some rail available.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Contact Alex Karnes at: redhawk759@msn.com or his phone at: 781-264-7603
He acquired the Culp Rail business including the 5/8” rail.

Gentlemen, thank you for your replies, everyone has supplied good info. To Bill S. We could even use 10 feet, and we will contact Alex as it's Culp rail we are trying to match. Maybe Friends Models can also be a source. PLS has a die for our standard track, but it's the existing low track we are trying to match. We do use offset rail joiners of various sizes to join our various heights of rail together. Like I said, we have stuff that spans more than 7 decades on the ground. This year is our 75 anniversary, we are postponing our celebration until next year... darn virus.
THANKS AGAIN,
Frank

Another possible source

Alexander.salisbury@gmail.com

He is listed under culp rail in Fr. Finelli's site with an April 2021 update note.
