Jewelry For Logging Locomotive

Post by Fender »

I just received this working model of a steam siphon from Shapeways for my logging loco project. These were used for taking water from a creek into the tender tank. This one is 2” scale. There is also a 2.5” scale version, but it seemed too big for the small 0-4-4 forney project I am building.

And here's the water syphon on the back of the tender of Rayonier #90, 2-8-2 logging locomotive.
All their smaller locomotives had such syphons for getting water from nearby creeks and other sources.
I've been contemplating modeling this on my loco.

Thanks for sharing yours! It looks good.

I’ve had mine on my shay for a while now, and it works great! I can drain a 5 gallon bucket in about a minute. Granted mine is the 2.5in scale one I originally offered, hopefully the 2in works just as well though there’s almost nothing to it so I don’t see why it wouldn’t as long as the passages are clear.
