PREPPING fiberglass for rattle can finishing . I am looking for info on painting a fiberglass tender. Do you scuff with sand paper , then spray primer and then the finish coat. I plan on using Rust O from Ace Hardware . Thanks for any ideas on this process . Bob...

Make sure you de-wax it well to remove any mold release. Wipe down with acetone.

Fiberglass is pretty forgiving/accepting of paint. Definitely you will need to wipe down the surface with acetone, before the undercoat.

Also, easy enuf to mix a color into your finial coats of resin.

Agree on removing any wax mold release, one exception is if you used PVA as a release, just wash it off
with warm water and a even light scuff of the surface and you're good to go for primer.
I've always liked high build auto primer.

Prep-Sol by Dupont is an excellent prepaint cleaner that removes silicone based releases, wax and oils of all types. Prep-Sol can be found in auto parts stores and auto paint dealers.
Any pics of your tender?
