Re: Nathan 4000C's in 1.5" Scale
It's been quite some time since I've posted an update on this project. With full sized railroads returning to service earlier this year I've been inundated with inquiries about my full sized #4 simplexes as well as replacement injector nozzles for larger injectors. So that's been consuming all my time since mid April, but I'm happy to say I'm finally back onto miniature 4000C production!
Here's a few shots of what's been taking up all my time in recent months:
EE #4 simplex injectors lined up ready to ship
Nathan No. 8 Monitor Nozzles
Work has resumed on the 4000's mid last week, and the bulk of the remaining work is machining the lost wax castings. First up was the overflow bodies which are now all finished (minus some deburring)
And this week we've been working on the main bodies. Currently working through the first operation, which is everything I can get at from the top of the injector.
This body is my setup part, since it's loaded with large holes on the outside making it unusable, but the machining came out fine on the first attempt. Couldn't help myself but to assemble the other parts I had to see it somewhat put together.

Anthony...incredible work! Have missed your posts...but when you do post something, many of us are in awe of your knowledge, skills, workmanship and of course, attention to detail. Please keep sharing what's going on with the Eccentric Engineer! Carl B.

Thank you all for the kind words! Truly does encourage me to keep going.
One more operation to go on the 4000C main bodies. Last step is to thread the bosses that accept the overflow body. They should all be finished tomorrow. There’s light at the end of the tunnel but there’s still lots of little things to do. Lots of little castings to machine, figuring out packaging, finishing up the instruction manual, the list goes on and on.
If everyone that has expressed interest in one of these comes through, I will have at most 4 extra injectors. If I make another run later on they will be much more than $1,895, so if you think you might want one don’t hesitate.

The Nathan 4000C’s are now complete!
Wound up with 24 in total. If you have already paid for yours, it was shipped on 11/5. The remaining injectors need to be sent out for a process called resin impregnation. This will seal up some very minor steam leaks and any other micro porosity that might exist. They will be ready to ship in a few weeks and I will reach out to those on my list when they are.
At this time all 24 are spoken for. I may have a few more castings made so I can have closer to 30 in total, so if you want one it’s not too late. Be sure to let me know soon though!
Here are some pictures of the completed injector. Videos to come.

By the way, it may not seem like it, but you’re looking at 114 individual pieces on the injector and 25 on the quadrant, for a total of 139 parts to put these together.

If I had the money I'd buy one, frame it, and put it over my mantle. Wife would not approve.

One of my goals for this year is to make more YouTube videos. I have some explainer videos in mind to help educate the hobby on anything and everything relating to injectors (as well as my other products).
Here is a newly uploaded video on the 4000C's.
Enjoy!

Anthony....beautiful piece of hardware! Excellent craftsmanship. Like the video to add an explanation and operating description all in real time. Great stuff. Look forward to future vids you might be making. Keep up the GREAT work! Carl B.
