The area I calculated for you is the area ABOVE the arch - not the area of the arch itself.
The length of the firebox doesn't matter.

To be clear, are you referring to the
"cross sectional area of the opening between the crown sheet & the highness rearmost part of the arch" ?
Ie., the restricted opening the combustion gases pass through on the way to the flues?
I am not clear on that.

I had the same question , Marty is referring to the area between the top of the arch to the crown plate .
The arch should also be angled at about 15 degrees .
I just had that conversion on the phone with him .

The end result for now maybe in 2 years time I will see if what I have done will work , it is made to be adjustable at the moment as I have not fully welded the arch plate .
