Help identifying photos
Help identifying photos
I found several color slides posted for sale on eBay, and would like help identifying the people, places and dates. I've posted the photos here:

Re: Help identifying photos
The B&O grasshopper engine was built by the late Harry Harvey of Portland, Or. Harry was one of the founders of the Pacific NW Livesteamers, located just outside of Molalla, Or. The engine was often run backwards to keep the coal smoke out of ones eyes, or a pipe stuck in the stack to try to get it to go over the engineer. The loco behind it looks like Harry's V&T J.W. Bowker 2-4-0.
Location does not look like Pnwls, and might be Lals, as the grasshopper was taken down there at least once for an IBLS meet.
Harry lived to be in his 90's, and probably has been gone at least 30 years.
Regards,
Doug

Re: Help identifying photos
PVLS would be Pioneer Valley Live Steamers, not Pennsylvania as noted on some of the images.

1&2 looks to be the 1” scale 870 built by Al Milburn & once owned by Pierre Mauer & then by my father, now in my possession.

Re: Help identifying photos
you want a box more? I have stacks of photos like this from Jim Stuart @ PVLS. MOST have dates and loco/builder notes on each
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Re: Help identifying photos
You are probably right about the 870. I was remembering a picture with Mr Buyse and I guess Mr Milburn looking at the engine at a PVLS meet from an old LS article The tender behind Ginny is in my basement. I bought it from Keith Muldowney but still can't recall the builders name. If you look at Bohn's challenger, it must have been while it was not quite finished as the jacket has not been painted yet. The Reading engine might be Thomas instead of Hoopes. I recall a Model Maker picture of the builders son driving the engine on the ground at PLS with an article about air brakes on the riding car. I should have waited until Larry and Keith paroozed these pictures before typing away.
Re: Help identifying photos
Anyone know any history on the very nice looking Yankee Shop B&M #3200? This is the first time I have seen pictures of that engine (unless it has been re-numbered since those photos were taken.)

Re: Help identifying photos
Tim, good catch, I made the correction to Pioneer Valley Live steamers.
Doug, I added the "grasshopper" photo to Harry Harvey's page:

Mark Bassini, I've added photos of the 870 to the Al Milburn's page:

Daris,
ID 008 appears to be a 12” ga Ottaway loco and 3 car train set. Don’t recognize the location.

Re: Help identifying photos
Has anyone any familiarity of a builder in the Miami, FL., area going by the name Harold Schoele?
I have acquired a project locomotive from someone, and they had quite the paperwork on it showing dates of misc purchases, and am wondering who Mr. Schoele is.
