Steam Locomotive model drawings
Steam Locomotive model drawings
I've been working on a list of Live Steam locomotive drawings, listed by scale and designer. This list focuses on American prototypes.
http://ibls.org/mediawiki/index.php?tit ... e_Drawings
I'm sure the list is missing designs, so please feel free to contact me with updates and corrections.
Regards,
Daris

Daris, Tom Rhodes designed the Allen Models FN 34. There was a construction series in Live Steam magazine.
Gene Allen designed the Allen Models American, Consolidation, and Ten-Wheeler.
I designed the Allen 0-4-0 and built the first one.

And Frank Birch designed several locomotives in both 1/2” and 3/4” scales. Also Calvert Holt of Greenwich, Connecticut designed several locomotives in 1/2” and 3/4” and 1 - 1/2” scales.
Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
Also from memory the Chloe was drawn up by Gene but based heavily off of three earlier models from a 1960s group build. I used to have a picture of those engines from an old live steam article but I've lost all the information at present.Marty_Knox wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:46 pm Daris, Tom Rhodes designed the Allen Models FN 34. To the 3.75" scale engines you can add the following:
MEG Steam (now defunct)
Wendy - 0-4-0 European style industrial switcher, hackworth valve gear and marine type boiler.
Uncle Sam - 0-4-0 Americanized version of the Wendy, resembling a Porter catalog switcher with saddle tank and diamond stack.
Both engines designed by Dougal Hubner.
Roll Models
Sweet Creek - 2-6-0 tender engine, designed by Keith Watson
Prairie - 2-6-2 version of Sweet Creek
Columbia - 2-4-2 using Sweet Creek castings
Sandy River Forney - 2-4-4 using Sweet Creek castings
Stuart Forney - 2-4-2 using Sweet Creek castings
Also under the Maxi-7, you can add to the resources that castings for this engine are available from Allen Models in the USA.

Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
Looks like Roger Goldmann at Live Steam Locomotives and Jim Kreider got omitted from the list of suppliers. Roger offers 4 models. 2-8-0 Consolidation. USRA Pacific. USRA 0-6-0 Switcher. Also the UP Challenger. Jim Kreider is famous for his 2-8-4 Nickel Plate Berkshire.

Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
It would seem that John Johnson's 1½ scale Western Maryland #6 Shay is missing from the list.
What about Ken Schreoder's (spelling) shay?
Who did the Cli-Shay that was a project in LS?
What about the Southern PS-4?
And the 4 Aces?
There are a couple of larger scale shays that are missing too.

Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
I guess a big question is, are you looking for currently available plans or also historical? If currently available then some of these ideas can get crossed off.
