Steam Locomotive model drawings
Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
I had the same question myself, Dick, considering how detail-oriented Bill Fitt was in his publication. And being an architect, his professional work would have been protected only so long as people respected the copyright laws. As for Penrose, who I did not know, I suppose he thought no one would care.

Was it Bob Maynard of the Cincinnati Cinder Sniffers who drew up the CliShay for Live Steam?
Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
Steve Vitkovits designed and had castings made for a light 2-8-2. Dick Thomas was also involved. The design was sold to Railroad Warehouse.

I forgot to give credit to Neil Knopf. He made beautiful CAD drawings from my pencil sketches.Marty_Knox wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:46 pm Daris, Tom Rhodes designed the Allen Models FN 34. There was a construction series in Live Steam magazine.
Gene Allen designed the Allen Models American, Consolidation, and Ten-Wheeler.
I designed the Allen 0-4-0 and built the first one.

I'm not aware of the designs by the Tanski's. Can you list them?Mark Landgraf wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:50 pm Also missing is Joe Tanski and his father

I would like to add both current and historic, with the hope that some of the "lost" drawings will come to light and be made available again, preferably on an "open source", or free, basis.

Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
That's something that kind of irks me, rather than all the data from the different railroads going into freely searchable historical archives it appears that whoever gets their hands on much of this stuff then hoards it and wants a ransom for access. The "information age" has a greedy streak. It could be argued that managing data and hosting archives comes at a cost but there are grants, memberships and foundations to cover those sort of costs, a lot of information seems to fall into private hands that was public or corporate and should never have gone to a sole source to produce a revenue stream. I was recently searching for data on a single tender. I do not need to buy an entire book costing $55 on SP tenders to get data on a single tender even if it is going to a worthy cause. I fully understand individually researched and compiled works being bound and sold. You would think though that SP historical information would be freely available? Maybe it is, but it has yet to reveal itself to me =).

Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
Did Jim Gould offer drawings with his SP M10 project that he did a number of years ago?
