Puget Sound Miniature Railway Society

Post by Glenn Brooks »

Hello All,

We will be hosting an open house on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at our house in Woodinville, Washington, to discuss organizing the Puget Sound Miniature Railway Society, and selecting a back country 1 to 3 mile miniature train corridor to conduct forest restoration and watershed conservation.

All who wish to participate are welcome!

Here is the meeting place:

Time

1:00 - 3:00 pm

Location-

18306 186th Place, NE
Woodinville, Wa 98077

Agenda

1:00 pm - Shop tour and 12” ga track and trestle inspection

1:30 pm - Society organization, membership goals, bylaws, Q&A

2:00 pm - RR ROW corridor options

2:30 pm - Costs and Revenue Projections

3:00 pm Steering Committee selection and duties

3:30 pm open discussion

Also, we established a Facebook page tentatively entitled: Puget Sound Miniature Railway Society. This is a place for the steering committee and membership to coordinate organizational activities and be a public facing site for information and partnering with external groups, such as land conservation groups we may wish to work with.

Our three principle goals are:

1) Partner with conservation groups to develop a scenic, 15” gauge, working railroad as a back country transportation corridor to help restore clear cut, Pacific Northwest old growth forest areas and watersheds to their former, natural beauty

2) Mentor and assist Society members to restore, preserve, or build new, Grand Scale locomotives and rolling stock (3” to 5” scale) and,

3) Enable society members to operate their own equipment, OR operate Society equipment, on the club right of way.

If you are out of the area and wish to be involved, feel free to join the group page and follow along.

P.S. We need a web site volunteer to help put a web page together and update it periodically. Please let me know if this is something you could do.

Thanks much,

Glenn
