Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge
Hi Guys,
last month the wheel castings arrieved me, so we started with the
first parts of the J 611 on 5 " gauge. Last year i bought the crank-
bells and some other baker stuff. The wheels are almost ready,
so the next step will be the engine bed .

Chris:
We'll look forward to this engine taking shape.
Did you cast only the front and rear drivers and then add/modify the counterweights for the main and intermediate?
Nice work!

Happy viewing,

NB The milling head ribbing is a telltale for Soraluce.

Hi Guys,
some news of Roanoke. The restoration begins and im so happy
about it. Its a little bit funny that i started with my engine at the same time on that
the full scale locomotive started with the restoration.
I wish i couldt be so quick as the guys in the movie, happy viewing.

Amazing work! How did you attach the counter weights? Are they bolted on from the back?
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
the counterweights are made of Brass sheet, the space between the
Spokes was filled with Resin. No Bolts just sheet, resin and loctite.
The brass sheet just mimic the counterweights .
I attached some pics of the work on the wheels.

Hi Guys,
in last weeks we build the boiler for my J.
We´ve tested the boiler today with 170Psi,
everything looks good no problems or any
leaking welds. After the successfully test
we placed the wheels .... just dreaming
The following pics show you the single parts of the
building process....
Will be continued on next page
