I will check tomorrow what size the top vent valve is. Probably 1/4" i.d. passage.
It was chosen for functionality and strength, not through hours of mathematical calculation...

The rods turned out awesome. That task is coming for me soon also. Jim

Thanks djjh87. You plan on making them manually or CNC?

Ok let me know. Looking back at your construction of the rods, I see you made sure all your links were correct before completing the machining,
Did you have any issues with warpage and or movement of the hole centers?

I finished the rod bushing holes first. No use doing more if those are not correct.

I used 304(?) stainless steel for the rods. It was very stable and machined easily at slower speeds. Not much heat generated, and no detectable warpage.

Hello My Friends
Very nice rods! CNC is definitely the way to go if you have the skills, and access to machines.

Thats good and I understand if centers are not correct then what's the point. I have read on this Forum the pros and cons of doing the holes first or last,
with mixed thoughts. We decided to do the holes on mine last just in case. That is another advantage of CNC accuracy as long as the programmer does his job lol

Finished the domes up today. Only painting remains. I may decide to Powdercoat them as I have an oven to do it in. Waiting for the PRVs and the vent globe valve to come it to complete the actual steam dome.

Santa showed up early today. I'm a ways off from needing the fittings and valves however PM Research had a 15% discount sale, so I took advantage of it. I did however need the 1/8" NPT valve to finish up the Steam dome lid. Still waiting on the PRVs.
