Actually...the original design called for 3 - 1/2” o.d. copper pipe. That is no longer available so Mr. Morewood came up with a revised design using the 4” o.d. pipe.

The Book now has all the drawings for both size boilers and all the dimension changes to the cab and chassis and smoke box

3.5" copper pipe is still available its just hard to find, especially if you want less than 10 feet of it.

You can get it from Reeves in the UK by the foot. $100 shipping to the USA plus about $75 / foot for the pipe.

Just my personal opinion.....but I think Raritan looks better with the 3 - 1/2” boiler.

Yes it does, but it run's a lot better with the larger Boiler,more steam capacity

I have lots of pictures of the original Raritan which is the 3.5 boiler...many of which as Bill Moorewood carrying it by the stack back and forth to the track...

Lets not forget that the Kozo A3 also has a copper boiler that was constructed from flat sheet.. If I remember correctly, very close in diameter to 3-1/2"? You can probably use all of his prints for the formers???
