dad says there were 6 sets made back then by mr holt. we have one, 5344. waushakum Hudson 350 and the third set belongs to my friend Richard cudd who was the builder of my dad's 5344. the other three sets are lost to history. dad also says they were made for B&A type hudsons not NYC.

Thanks for the info on the Hudsons. The two 1-1/2" scale Hudsons that I finished up were from East Coast-Klamath Locomotive . What happened to those patterns? I know they were sold a couple times. Here is a snappy of 5344 I took yesterday. Busy with other things right now.

how were the castings from Klamath?

I've heard ( not sure if true) there were some major quality issues with the castings from Klamath/East coast and that the drawings required some significant "tweaking" for them to run right.

I think at one time Mike V tried to purchase them from Don's son, but it didn't go through.

His son wanted way too much money and some of the patterns were missing. I have done a lot of work on the prints, but have a long ways to go. I have a full set of Hudson castings to go from, but not all of the prints. I also don't have any patterns made yet.

Maybe the roger goldmann pacific cylinders/ valve gear could be used as a NYC 4-6-4 starting point.

I just mean I think it would sell as well as any other 1.6 scale locomotive casting set due to the popularity of the prototype.

At one time I was looking into a set of the Commonwealth tender truck castings and related leaf spring sets from Klamath. The father had recently passed and the son was way to anxious to get my money even though all the castings were not in stock. This caused me to elect to not send money for parts I might never see. I believe it was a wise move.

Hello My Friends
Although the East Coast-Klamath casting set was not up to Jim Kreider Berkshire standards, a pretty good Hudson Could be made from them as we have here. Both John's Hudson, and the Streamliner were made from this casting set. I also think a top quality J1 casting set would be popular as they were well performing and good looking engines. But then that's my favorite engine.

They also made a SOU 4-6-2, but I've seen few photos of one finished. Then I think a B&M 4-8-2.
