I've had similar situations only to be told "we've sold a lot of them and nobody else has ever had a problem" :)

No one had a problem that they bothered to tell the shop about...
I told the Wurth shop guy but didn't even bother at the other 4 shops who had the same stock.

I didn't notice before, but even if you look at the "good" threaded rod photo, the pitch doesn't exactly match up with the gauge.
That's a Starrett gauge so it's probably correct.
