Ship a mill from NE of Boston to central NJ?
Re: Ship a mill from NE of Boston to central NJ?
Depending on why the places you checked didn't want to move it, partial disassembly might help both in terms of size and weight. In my case, I was able to get my mill loaded on my trailer (no shipping company needed) with a forklift, but at home I had to unload with an engine hoist and it was just too cumbersome to do with it all assembled. Taking it apart at the top of the base made it almost easy to work with.

FWIW I have unloaded both my lathe and mill, at my house, using a towing service. I have them send me a tow truck with an extending boom. The boom allow them to set it inside my garage, as there is no skirt out front of it. Works great, cost about 60 bucks.
