Sorg reciprocating cylinder engine on auction

Post by WisJim »

I just discovered what is supposedly a Sorg reciprocating cylinder engine at a local on-line auction. The auction is over in a day, Feb 17th, so not likely for anyone to get there to take a look at it. These are a pretty uncommon engine and it will be interesting to see what it sells for and if it shows up at an engine show in a few years. https://leerealestateauction.hibid.com/ ... ef=catalog

I've been watching that auction as well. I wonder if it will stay in this part of the country. I would love to see it running at a show one day. It is a very unusual design to say the least.

My understanding is that 2 are known to exist, and there are rumors of a third.
In addition to the rarity, what makes this engine unusual (and valuable) is its design. The piston is stationary, and the cylinder reciprocates.
