Looking for an RSC Arch Bar Tender Truck Brake Shoe

Post by Yak18pilot »

Hello;
I'm doing some cosmetic work on my live steamer and one of the brass RSC Arch Bar Tender Truck Brake Shoes (decorative & non-functional) is somewhat distorted. Does anyone have a used one in good shape they can part with?
Thanks in advance!

Why do you say it’s non-functional?

I think they were designed to operate. Maybe you just don’t have yours hooked up?

Just looking closer. Are you saying distorted because the shoe area isn’t square all the way across?

They can’t be so they can follow the taper in the wheel tread.

FYI, Railroad Supply sells them still, brand new.

It's currently not hooked up but I'd like to explore that option. The one in the photo is distorted where the brake beam enters it and is bent as seen in the second photo. When I mount it only part of the edge makes contact with the wheel due to the bend and distortion. I figure RSC has the whole kits, but I was just looking for one and RSC has been incredibly difficult to get ahold of...

You should be able to buy individual shoes.

Mike works full time. The best way to get in touch is call after 6 Eastern time.
