Stationary Steam Engine Castings Free/Shipping ****GONE****
I have some very large grey iron castings for probably 2 steam engines that were given to me. I will never get to them and want them to go to a good home. These are FREE for the cost of shipping. I'm in Northern California, Eureka 95503 to be exact and the combined weight of all the castings is going to be considerable.
The caveat is..there are no plans, you have to be smart enough to figure this out on your own.
If you have any interest, let me know and I'll supply pictures and details. To give an idea of the scale, the flywheel is 16" in diameter, so you'll need more than a tiny hobby lathe.
Please contact me via traditional email..it's easier. stuartjonesmiller@gmail.com
Thanks,
Stuart

A little locomotive with 4 wheels on the track is a lot more fun
than a 1/2 finished one with 16 wheels on the bench!

An an addendum to my original post, these castings weight 197 lbs, sans any packaging. Two folks have inquired about them, but because of the shipping costs to the east coast have passed. They're still available, free, and they would make a couple of awesome models.

Yeah, what Steve said. I'd enjoy seeing what you are offering.

Here is a link to a Google photo album of the castings. I've not done this before so I hope it works.

Thanks. So tempting!
It appears that there is no base for the engine(s).

Hello, these castings are for a two cylinder double beam engine. This is a large engine. There is one at the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association steam building. They do not have a photo of it on their web pages. Harold is correct that the base is missing. It is at least 16" wide and about 24" deep. I have a photo of the engine but cannot find it at this time.

Wow...that's it gents! Thanks for the picture, the base shouldn't be too hard to duplicate out of a piece of plate, and the picture shows clues to all the other parts.

WOW..that's what I said. Couldn't believe there was a double cylinder steam/beam engine spinning a single flywheel, but the truth is in the pictures. I almost feel like abandoning my other chores and sallying forth with the build, but at 75 years old you have a little different perspective on life.
