Edwards 5 Radial Engine
Hi All,
I am a new member and i am in the early stage of building the Edwards Radial 5, I am from Italy and I have all machines in my shop working in millimeters. It is a very hard unit conversion work,but...
I hope to succeed in.
A question : what about ignition system, spark plug ? I need help .

Re: Edwards 5 Radial Engine
I like to resurrect this old thread.
The Hoglet is almost finished and I am looking at the Edwards 5 drawings for the next project.
Sheet 5 The crankcase has 10 #6-32 Holes, 2 on each of the faces not occupied by a cylinder.
What are they for?
Would not oil leak out?

Those holes are intended to be for the engine mounts. You can see the main mount ring with the arms attached to those holes in the picture at

Thanks. That is a beauty. Looks like a sparker instead of glow.

Re: Edwards 5 Radial Engine
Is now September and after stopping for a 3 months "Vacation" in Buffalo NY (who vacation in Buffalo?) the Edwards 5 is almost complete. Will post pictures when done.
The only parts I am hesitant are the very thin rings and the Oil Scraper Ring. My eyesight can not imagine to slot it peripherally.
Bending the tubes will be a challenge. I have 6 feet of stock, allowance for scraps.
