I now see a notice of "Notifications" in the upper left hand corner of the home page.
I can mark all notifications as read, but I can't find out how to delete them. There are now hundreds of "read" notifications listed that I no longer need to know about. How do I clear the notifications?

Just pretend they are like the posts you've already read.

But I already have those posts....I don't need them in two places.

Well, they are not complete posts. Maybe they will be more agreeable if they were instead considered as an index of links to your posts that had activity by other members. There is no other forum feature that I can think of that gives you that functionality.
