My junk drawer

This is a physical one, not a mental one.

I'd take a picture of my junk drawer but it would just be a picture of my shop.

Nah, don't think it's a typo. Looks to me like just one drawer, but with an organizer within.

I gotta say, that drawer looks a little like the one in my shop, in an old wooden desk on which I have my Wilson Hardness tester and my comparator.

I meant that I can't imagine there being only one, so singular must be a typo...

Got it! But I've managed to keep mine down to just one.
Can't help but wonder if, maybe, I'd be better off just tossing all that stuff, but it's hard for me to discard things that may be useful. It has paid huge dividends, and is now all the more valuable because we live so remotely. I have to make a 25 mile drive, one way, for just about anything I need.

Without strict discipline all drawers tend to become Junk Drawers. Not mentioning names but that what happens to the kitchen drawers.

We envision times and places. It was horrible at times. Somehow we got thru it.
Seething seething but no . Stop!
never happened. My windows were all fractured when an airliner went thru the Pentagon. That wasn't enough to say. CIRCULARLY AROUND.

I would say I pursue moderate discipline in such matters. I've got very organized boxes with every tool in it's place, ordered, clean, no piles or jumbles. That covers most everything for which I have dedicated storage. Some have seen my file drawers, which are representative of my general tool organization discipline, and called it more than a bit OCD, and I suppose it is. I don't like digging for tools, particularly for edged tools that are vulnerable to damage.

Then there are the things that don't really go anywhere else, or overflow allocated space. Those accumulate in roughly related drawers and cabinets, and I call those my "junk drawers".

Actual junk does accumulate, but generally isn't given a respected place among my real tools, and most often not in the shop proper. I try to hold that line, but I am weak...

I honestly thought you were referring to spro's off-topic post above.
Honest!
