For a long time, I've wanted a hoist scale. I finally made one from an old hydraulic cylinder.
My mill weighs 1325kg it seems.
My vise jaws exert 3 tons with a mild cheater pipe (measured before I welded the cage around the cylinder).
By changing the gauge, better accuracy is possible at lower loads. Theoretically it should go to 26 tons with a 600 bar gauge, but I'd want to go over the welds. Some are a bit light to avoid burning the paint that had to be done first.
Besides, my hoist is only good for 1.5 tons or so.
44.18 X bar (metric pressure) = Weight in kg.
