How to double the life of grinder cutting disks

How to double the life of thin grinder cutting disks;

Don't drop the grinder on the floor in such a manner that it hits disk first.

This usually happens when the grinder cord reaches out and grabs your ankle.
I think my grinder has been feeling neglected, and is just trying to be friendly.

I seem to have had a spate of short lived disks lately; it starts to add up.

I thought I could solve the problem by simply placing the grinder on the floor.

Who would have guessed those thin disks just snap if you step on them??
