I'm in the market for a sheet metal roll/plate roll.
The market however (as you all know) is pretty pricey. I'm mainly looking to roll and shear 1/8" at most. I remember hearing at some point that if I'm not using the full capacity of these machines, that I can go thicker.
Example; Roller rated for 16 gauge at 48", can actually do 1/8 or close if only rolling 12"? Is this true, and does the same apply for a shear brake?
I have a minimal use for the thinner gauge at this point, but things are picking up, and I don't want to go out and buy something I don't need.
Thx

1/8" stainless steel or soft aluminum?

Operating machines is perfectly safe......until you forget how dangerous it really is!

Re: Metal Rolling/Shearing Formula
The majority is 1/8-1/4" mild steel and aluminum. Any stainless , and I'd probably stay in the lighter gauge range.
