Indicator rod for clambering?

Post by unioncreek »

I'm going to chamber a barrel and am looking for an indicator road for a 308. I've heard of guys. Making them, but have not found what material they use. Any help appreciated.

You, and certainly I would find multiple uses for a .250 to .500 Pin gage set. CDCO has a set for 80 bucks. Otherwise I grind down round HSS tool blanks using spin fixture and surface grinder.

I rarely use an indicator rod. I use a long stylus dial test indicator and reach up in the bore and indicate the barrel where the throat will be.
