ejetion problem

Post by golfpin »

Hi to all,
very Newbie here. Can anyone help.
Have a savage semi auto .22 in fair?? condition. occaisonal ejection issues. Will eject with no problem when rifle held with ejection port held in a downward position, ie rifle twisted but iregular ejection when held in normal ,vertical, position. Seems to favour gravity to help with the ejection. Am told that some form of mod was made to the extractor/ejector setup but nothing is obvious. No previuos experience with this arm so no idea what was original.

Thks from avery long way away.

Such rifles are kinetic, or blow-back operated. What you are describing is a failure of the extracter of hanging on to the rim of the spent case to toss it out. Most often it is dirt or wear, or a rusty spring, not allowing the grip to hold onto the casing base.

Take it down and find the gremlin in the works. Could be just powder fouling.
