Winchester Air Pistol Seal
I have an old Winchester 353 air pistol I was going to give to the grand kids (with parents permission). So I got it out, and tried to shoot it. Nada, pellet didn't move.
So I pushed the pellet out, added a little oil, and fired without a pellet. I got what looked like sand, several times. So, I disassembled the weapon, and find NO SEAL on the piston. Some plastic like remnants.
That's why I'm here. Anybody have any suggestions on:
Where to buy the seal, or
What material to use if I must to make one, or
Dimensions or pictures of the part.
Sorry, I'm at the grand kids, and don't have a camera. When I get home (to the full shop) I can post picts of the metal parts. My stock of plastics is UHMW, Delrin, Teflon and some 90 duro Poly Urethane.
TIA

Dave, I'm no airgun expert, and I certainly don't know about that air-pistol, but most airguns use an "umbrella" seal, just like a bicycle pump. I once took apart a Plainsman rifle (which I wish I still had) and the seal was rubber, near as I could tell. Cracked and leaky, of course. Some of the old ones are leather. I've only seen o-ring seals on modern, low-pressure guns like the Daisy 717 pistol.
IIRC, the Beeman high-performance air guns have urethane seals. Urethane is much more resistant to petroleum lubricants than most other soft polymers.
If you can get the dimensions, it would seem to me there's a fair chance that a seal out of another gun would fit, or could be adapted.
There used to be a shop in Elmira, NY that handled all sorts of repairs.
-- Air Rifle Specialists 311 East Water St. Elmira, NY 14901 -- I used to see them at gunshows. Might be worth a call.

You might try either Beeman Precision Airguns in Huntington Beach, CA, or Mac 1 Air Guns in Gardena, CA.
I'm kinda late in here, but anyway,,,,,,, for airgun related info the first place I'd start is the James Kitching airgun forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/
...though I will admit that Mac 1 does do repairs on a lot of stuff. That's one name you'll see mentioned a lot there.

That gun was made by Hy Skor in Germany, I had one that was green, yours is tan. RWS seals will fit it.

i used to have some numbers for supply for those things,,,, cant rember where they are now. the one thing that i rember is that you want to use air gun oil, (oil for your air tools would most likly work as well) the regual gun oil will eat away at most of the seals used on these air guns.

Nope, I made a few attempts, no long term success. If you make your own, make sure they don't bottom out in the pump cylinder. Good luck.
And, welcome to the forum.

You say "wrote;" you mean snail mail or email? I bet snail mail gets lost in the junk mail.

Hy-Score 700 and 800 were US made. Then they started importing from Germany. The 815 (like mine) and also sold under Winchester name were made by Diana of Germany. Same as Diana md 5.
Still no love on finding a piston seal.
All help or tips appreciated.
