32-20 barrel

Post by John »

All the gunsmiths must be on vacation, haven't seen anything on the board for awhile. I'm looking for a 12 inch barrel that would be good for a 32-20, .311 or .312. I have a 303 barrel but it isn't big enough on the OD ( need .875) . I thought I had one in my pile of stuf but it turned out to be a 32-40 barrel. May have to break down and buy a new one .

Numerich/Gun Parts had some good deals on some .308 barrels awhile back.

I would use a .308" barrel and chamber ...

with a 3° leade. It would take .308" bullets and .311-.312" bullets safely and accurately.

A Martini Cadet .310 barrel would be about ideal if you can find one

Would be even better if it had a complete action attached to it!!

Redman makes a 32-20 barrel liner page 36 Brownells #54. Maybe you can drill out the 32-40 and use that.

Found a 32-20 barrel for $60 including shipping ( Les Bauska). Found out my chamber reamer won't work on the 303 barrel, bore to small. If I were going to use a liner I wouldn't use one from Brownells, the OD is metric. I get my liners from TJ's. The reason for not using a liner is the costomer doesn't want a liner. Thanks for all the ideas
