Re: Bought New Grizzly Measuring & Boring Stuff...Now What?

Does yours have that gravelly feel?
It doesn't seem to but I need to clean it more. I checked also and it is direct reading. It is G9321 2" head with 1-1/2-18 threads (My mill is B&S 9) to fit my adapters for the mill and lathe.

Re: Bought New Grizzly Measuring & Boring Stuff...Now What?

I bought a Grizzly 2" boring head on Fri. Not sure what the spacing is. The Mesa people have an adjustable tool for odd ball spacing here:

Re: Gears and Gear-Cutting on your mill...

Nice job and great post and pictures, Glen.

It always confuses me to see posts from Dave C. I start to wonder if I already posted. (getting old).

I like the new look also. Many thanks to Marty, Harold, and Jose for all the hours that make this such a great place.

Did anyone notice the phone number at the bottom of the ELLIS dividing head chart? - a bit of an antique chart!

Kind of like the truck I have outside - has Phone 67 on the key fob.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have owned a Mitutoyo vernier micrometer for 30 years which I used in woodworking, usually on making dados. 3/4" plywood is anywhere from .715 to .765 and I would adjust my dado to fit accordingly with paper shims of .003 each to get the right fit. We used equipm...

The instructions in the link on the second line of his post talks about where he got them:
Sources
Ebay Motors has many sellers. Search for ‘LED panel.’ The buyers I used were
KAIZENMOTOR who ships from Emeryville, CA and ENKMALL who ships air from
Hong Kong
Nice light.

Does this discussion apply to all calipers? or are some better than others? The Mitutoyo Digimatic Series 500 claims an accuracy of +/- .001 with a resolution of .0005, which I see from this thread is not very great when you think about it. Of course, most of what I have done COULD be measured with ...

You could try this link. They seem to want $25 to send a PDF of the serial number card on file. The link goes to Grizzly. http://southbendlathe.com/serial_numbers.aspx "Every South Bend Lathe sold between 1929 and 2008 has a serial number card on file that includes vital information necessary w...

using my mill all wrong

Here is an example of using my mill wrong, although it worked very well for making 24 pockets to fasten a 3/4 threaded rod.

Everything is back to being oily and not dusty so I hope you all will be forgiving. The vacuum tried hard but did not get all the dust.

Nice work Jose, it does look complicated. Could you post a couple pictures of that tool you are using in DSCF4807 to mill the end of the main flywheel shaft. I have a cutter like that (http://www.grizzly.com/products/G9351 - purchased when I did not know anything, not that that has changed much) and...

I live in the interior of BC but go by Abbotsford to visit our daughter in Vancouver periodically. I checked a recent order from Online Metals in Seattle. For about $150 of stuff was $17 shipped to Bellingham, and $120 shipped to 100 Mile House (4.5 hours N of Abbotsford). So I too drive the 1/2 to ...
