Arborway, T.T. and NW Closed

I received word from a friend of mine in Missouri that the Arborway, TT & NW in Steelville has shut down (or shortly will be). This was the official announcement on their Friends page: I would like to personally thank everyone for there support of the Arborway T.T. & Northwestern over the la...

Re: Capture/Release type circuit?

I was playing around in the lab one day during my lunch break and built a circuit on the bench using components we had on the shelf trying to make something that I thought might work. I built this circuit and it seemed to work perfectly for capturing and releasing so I drew it up.

Re: Semaphores explained?

I would like to chime in on the obsessive and crazy portion of this thread. A number of years ago, I went to an estate auction and bought some Erie semaphores from a scrap dealer there. The control boxes weren't there so I came up with a quick and dirty way to mechanize mine. I poured a concrete bas...

Re: Building my 1.5" scale Clishay as a beginner

"Finally, I have gotten Kozo's Heisler book, and I plan on building the 1.5" scale version in the future"

I for one look forward to following your progress on this future project.

1-1/2" Scale Kozo Heisler Brake Question

On the 3/4" Heisler, the brakes are dummies for looks only. Some of the 1-1/2" ones say they have working brakes. Does anyone have drawings for the scaled up Heisler showing how they made them operable?

Re: Intro into Live Steam

I have a model of a heavy interurban I built a few years ago which is totally electric. It uses four batteries hooked up to run 24 volts through a 4QD controller. I can run all day on a charge and have never had a problem in that area. It did hurt a little last year when I had to replace the batteri...

Tri State Locomotive Club October Meet

This is a reminder that the October Tri State Locomotive Club meet will be at the Pepper track in Andrews, Indiana October 17. This is a small private track with approximately 50 foot minimum radius curves. (It can accommodate LE Pacific steamers and smaller.)

Re: Building a Kozo

"This hobby is for well to do people, when it comes to steam, the rest of us run electrics." I would have to agree with some of the other comments. I think it depends on how much you fabricate yourself and how much time you are willing to spend. I, too, started out building an electric (1/...
