Steam turbine generator
A few months ago I found an old edition of Live Steam magazine (Sept/Oct 1998), starting in it was a two part article on making a steam powered turbine generator written by Richard Chiapparelli, I'm curious to know if anyone has made or attempted to make a turbo-generator? In my spare time I've been...

Re: Help with determining B&S 618 hub taper
Hi Gary, I have Brown & Sharpe 25-1200-1 hub adapters, never knew what they were for, if they fit your machine they are yours for the cost of shipping. John

Re: gear cutter for pocket watch sized gears
I went through my box of gear cutters, the highest DP that I have is 48, so I can't help you out in that way. However, have you thought about making the cutters that you need? The March/April issue of HSM magazine has a very good article on making gear cutters, as does Ivan Law's book, Gears and Gea...

Re: Flux versus Antiscale
I performed a little experiment this afternoon with some O-1 cut-offs that were laying around. I applied soap paste to one, applied a heavy layer of soot from a candle to another and put a third in a short length of steel pipe with a few small pieces of charcoal and blocked the ends with pieces of f...

Re: Flux versus Antiscale
I'm interested in this topic, I recently bought a heat treating oven and scale elimination is something I want to master. I'd prefer not using coatings that are corrosive to the oven refractory if possible. The knife making sites seem to offer a variety of techniques, but some things I make will be ...

Re: GG1 in large scale?
Yes Carl, I made the air cylinders. I used aluminum solid rounds and tube to make the cylinder, cylinder ends and gland, and JB Weld to attach the brass collar to the cylinder. I added the collar to get sufficient threads (10-64) to attach the air connection. I included a picture of the cylinder com...

Carl B. I completed the air brakes on the 'A' chassis unit and will be adding the air supply piping and hose in the near future, thanks for the tip, John

Re: Klopp shapers
I'm going to pass on it, it's too heavy for me to move and my buddy outed me to my wife and I got the whole 'at this stage of our lives we should be downsizing' lecture. Some people can't keep a secret.

Re: Klopp shapers
Thank you for the weight and stroke information Benta. If my arithmetic is correct, 1200kg is 2645lb, and that is too heavy for me to move with my vehicle. You saved me a trip, thank you. John
