Re: Railroad Supply will be at NEOLS on Sept 7

Hey! Get in Line! :D

Seriously, I will tell him. I know he had an order in to the foundry for lightweight wheels, cause I need 4.

Re: Railroad Supply will be at NEOLS on Sept 7

No he doesn't! :? Even I have to call or drop in on him to get in contact.
Mike is a machinist/tool maker, not a computer user.

The best time to get a hold of him, is between 6-9pm EST and of course weekends.

Railroad Supply will be at NEOLS on Sept 7

Just to let everybody know that Mike from RRSC is coming with us to NEOLS for Saturday. We might be there by Friday afternoon.

If you need us to bring something out, PM me and if he has it in stock we will bring it.

Re: M-10005 'City of Denver'

And yes, I know that the lower skirting on the sides reaches to much downwards - it is closer to the E-units than to the rather shallow outline of M-10003-6; however, I don't intend to remodel this point (the model's skirting covers the battery trays) Best regards Norman If anybody says anything, j...

Re: stick welding aluminum

About 25 years ago or so, Mike (RRSC) and I built a lot of portable track. We used 1/8" thick channel aluminum and aluminum rail and I did the welding. We used a Lincoln AC/DC welder set on reverse polarity. Everything has to be CLEAN. If you are used to stick welding steel, what you will have ...

Call Mike after between 6 and 9pm, any day except Tuesday.

P.S. He might be on vacation this week. I called his house phone Monday and no answer. That's unusual.

Re: Information on metallurgy, casting and foundry work

Harold, Excellent description of induction melting. One way of thinking about how the systems works is this; picture a transformer with the secondary shorted. It will get hot and melt. All of our old motor/generator units were horizontal shaft. Yours was the first vertical that I have seen. I did bu...

Andy,

This is where I take my tools for sharping:

Its a father/son operation that reasonably priced.

Re: Music and sound gear

Hi Harold, Yes, we are doing well, just real busy with work and the "part time" business. The business has exploded this year! Speaking of McIntosh, when I worked for a music/vending machine/arcade business in the mid '70s, one of the owners would get contracts to supply sound equipment to...
