It sounds like your pattern/casting may be more complex than some of us are imagining. As mentioned above, I would add shrinkage uniformly to the pattern as a starting point, if everything works out OK you will have a usable casting. ...be advised that the shrink of the casting may or may not be linear, or exist at all... I experienced non-linear shrinkage on some castings myself recently, so I can attest to Harold's comments. Are you designing a slide valve cylinder or piston valve? "Square core" kind of sounds like ...

The tender looks "ride-able" scale (3/4" or 1" ?)but the two engines look more like Gauge 1-ish to me. They do not seem stout enough to pull someone.

William H Morewood designed the Raritan 3/4" Scale 3.5" gauge.

When I selected 3D CAD software I was put off by Fusion 360 not being on my own computer. Not being able to get it to operate on my computer sealed the deal and I went with Freecad.
