Coal, propane, fusion... I still haven't decided with my current build.

Re: Displacement lubricator questions
Curious if there are any updates running this lubricator. From the post below it looks like it was almost ready to go. Denny I'm doing the same thing Frank with a slight difference , this will be a horizontally opposed version to suit the challenger with 4 outlets and needle valves built into the bo...

Re: Where to buy Window trim
For the rubber window holding trim Google- Trim-Lok. They also have a store on Amazon. Look at their one and two piece gaskets.
I've used their trims long ago but not the window holding stuff.

Re: bras pipe fittings how to make
Just my opinion, fittings from bar stock always look a bit too sterile. PM Research unmachined fittings and valves will let you make fixturing decisions and chips... and still look like they belong on an old engine.

Re: New Parts for an Old Locomotive
Spiral pins are another option with your existing straight drilled holes. They're not as strong as a taper pin but are stronger than roll pins and are much less likely to shear or tear up the holes under loads. Heavy duty versions with tighter wraps are available.

Re: Firetube Boiler Project - Leak Troubles
Hi Blondihacks, Welcome to the forum, good people here. I have seen some of your videos, nicely done! I'd be tempted to try a slightly lower temp alloy like Easy-Flo 45 and black flux to fix the leaks. Yes, Easy-Flo 45 contains cadmium so use good ventilation. Black flux is usually considered for hi...

Re: Gasket Material
Old thread and the OP seems to have left the building but some folks might find this useful. Here's a couple of gaskets for Fitch/Chloe cylinders cut on my wife's Cricut Maker vinyl cutter. I used Cricut's Design Space program to draw the gaskets, it's simple but has a learning curve if your more fa...

Re: Logging Disconnects
Ccvstmr asked about 2.5 inch scale aluminum link and pin couplers. Odd Duck Foundry who often posts on this board can cast 2.5" link and pins in bronze, perhaps he could also do aluminum. He's a good person do deal with, I'll be ordering some bronze L&P's from him this fall.

I used 28 ga. (.015) blue stovepipe left over from my boiler wrapper, worked fine.
.050 sounds kinda thick to wrap cylinders.

Re: RED train lantern ideas
On ebay there's a seemingly endless selection of prewired LEDs in just about any color and voltages from 3 to 12. There's even prewired red flashing LEDs that have connectors for common 9 volt batteries. Most folks won't need these but they could make life easier if you're converting an off the shel...
