I've used copper single-flare on larger hardware store sized fittings with success. I've never double-flared copper without it splitting.
Whenever I can, I silver solder as mentioned above.

Re: Paint prep
One tip I learned for Aluminum sheet was to do the prep listed above and then use a gentle propane torch flame across the surface. The heat will evaporate the oils the aluminum has absorbed, you will see a 'ring', a slight color difference, emerge around the heated area which you can chase with the ...

The name of the icon is "radioactive.gif"; but gives no insight how it is applied.

I believe Wilbur worked for the Missouri Meerschaum Company in Hermann, Missouri, a 150 year old corn cob pipe factory. https://corncobpipe.com/ The dried scrap cobs were inexpensive fuel!

According to the LE catalog #100, print #18 is "Tender Frame Assembly", although I found a reference to a print #18 as '1" Scale Tender or Car Truck'

Re: Filters for Standard Injectors
Looks like K&N 81-0302 has 1/8NPT male fitting at one end and 3/8" Barb on the other.
81-300 has 3/8" Barb fittings both ends.
The screen is 40 microns.
Maybe the filter with two 1/8NPT female ends is no longer offered?

Re: Check those trailer tires....

Re: Any interest in a sight glass shutoff/drain valve?
Almost all of my waterglass backhead fittings are Model Taper Pipe (excepting the 1" Little Engines straight thread ones, ugh), not National Pipe Taper, which is considerably larger pipe sizes. Just a data point for you, Anthony, not a critique.
