consolidated safety valve adjustment

I have mercer consolidated safety valves set at about 125 psi and I would like to raise the pressure to 140 which is the max rating . The boiler is rated at 150 WP so we are ok there . Can someone tell me how to do that as there is a couple of adjustments from what I have heard . I did look at Train...

Boiler Treatments

Im after boiler treatments for the Challenger but seem to be having difficulties with the web sites . There is One step tannin which I have tried to order now 2 times - the site takes my credit card / paypal but end up with no confirmation etc . The other one is LSB 8000 - the web site seems to come...

Re: Trainman injector starting valves

I think I will machine a metal shaft and poppet to suit .

I do have 2 super scale injector starting valves that I might adapt to suit if things don't work out .

The challenge is "ON" to solve the problem - the best part of model engineering solving problems ( or the worst )

Trainman injector starting valves

FYI - there appears to be an issue with Dave's injector starting valves the orings he has supplied do not cut the mustard . I used them 4 running times in test mode on the challenger everything worked fine then I took the engine down to the local track to do the first track test run and found one in...

Re: 20 and 30lb horizontial propane tanks - good deal

Greg I think that was a little doom and gloom - yes you will have to get recertification on any propane tank if you own it long enough which is a simple process as I got a argon tank recertified yesterday and have got 30lb vertical tanks recertified at the same place off my travel trailer - remember...

20 and 30lb horizontial propane tanks - good deal

Home depot has 20lb horizontal tanks for $95 and 30lb horizontal for $130 which is a really good deal if any one is interested .
With gauge and all the other normal stuff .

the Great Train Race 2023

Probably one of the most impressive sights anyone who is a steam fan could see and very unique .

You tube - The Great Train Race 2023 - I'm not smart enough to put it on the site - I'm sure someone can .

Especially at the 9.50 min mark

Re: Piping/Tubing Sizes

McMaster Carr seems a favourite in the US for S/S tube . Here in Canada we use a company called Unified Alloys not sure if they are in the US but I’m sure there are many suppliers. Most places will cut a 20ft length into shorter lengths for transport . I use slightly heavier wall thickness- 035” min...

Re: Piping/Tubing Sizes

Maybe people should think outside the box a bit and consider seamless stainless steel tube ( horror gasp ) yes s/s . Comes in 20ft pre straighten lengths (LOL) and various wall thickness ( heavier the wall the tighter the bend ) and I bet price wise it is comparable to brass or copper . Easy to thre...
