I have the same machine. Been using it for about three years now with no regrets.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it, too.

Re: Roughly how tight should the belts be on a varispeed Log
I've just rebuilt 11" Logan and the manual suggests about 1.5" deflection in the middle of the drive belt. It might be beneficial for you to pick up a reprint of the owners manual online. It'll give you specs such as lube points, adjustments, and general operating procedures. They're about...

Re: Please rate these spiders (pic heavy)
I don't use the "range rods" that Dave @ PTG sells. I take my readings directly off the indicator stylus inserted in the bore.Long Tom wrote:S. Turf, that's my plan too. I see that PT&G sells such rods.

Re: Please rate these spiders (pic heavy)
My concern was that the outboard spider is very light and maybe somehow that'd be an issue. The weight is a non-issue. I have one on the outboard of my Nardini that might even weigh less than yours. It's only purpose is to radially adjust the OD of the barrel to get a couple inches of the bore runn...

Re: Please rate these spiders (pic heavy)
Integrating brass or aluminum tips for the adjusting screws is without a doubt a move in the right direction. As far as the square looking fixture goes, my concern would be possible vibrations introduced just by the shape of it. It's possible I guess that it might be balanced but when spinning the b...

This short vid will give you the basic idea. You can make your own fixture and experiment a little before you attempt it on your actual bolt.

I have used these Flex-Hones for several projects and they leave a great finish depending on the grit size selected.

Re: setup i use for recrowning a rifle.
On 18" and shorter barrels I use a fixture. It consists of a 12' long piece of aluminum round stock 3" in diameter with a 2" ID. There are two sets of four radially adjusting screws spaced about 10" apart. One end of the fixture is held in the chuck and the other side rides in a ...

Re: setup i use for recrowning a rifle.
Hi, I am a new guy here, can someone tell me where I can get those pin gauges used to indicate the bores... I have been looking for that setup.. Thanks mtnsmith........ Actually, the the Deltronic type pins you're speaking of don't indicate the bore as much as they indicate the tops of the lands. T...
